Individual Game Rules
1) Whoever sets up the AU game post can set up scenario, time period, what have you, and can decide how open it is.

2) The game-starter is also allowed to decide who may join their game if they wish, and any restrictions therein (including, but not limited to, the types of characters)

3) Game-starter is free to decide if continuity is holding over from a previous post, or if it’s a new one, or a one-over.

4) Feel free to start a thread in the OOC comm to pair with the game to make some sense of  what’s going on and list who’s involved, and any other things that would be needed to be kept in mind.

5) Posts need to be tagged with their relevant information.

How to set up a game

When setting up a game, use the following template for the both the initial game post in the RP comm and its corresponding OOC comm post to make the various aspects of the game as easily and quickly understood as possible.

Title:
Setting (time/situation/location):
Canon Veracity:
Characters Allowed:
Notes:
Explanations:

Title should be self-explanatory. This is the game's name.

Setting covers everything from era (i.e. Modern Day, Futuristic, etc.) to a specific setting (i.e. a Quidditch tournament).

Canon Veracity is basically "How close to canon are you shooting for?"  This can range from being functionally identical to canon (perhaps with just a different cast or slightly altered world) to where the setting has been more or less borrowed and that's about it.

Characters Allowed: Do you allow canon HP characters?  Characters from other fandoms?  OCs?

Notes: This is basically everything else.  There are a default set of rules that are posted; these are defaults, and can be deviated from in just about any way possible.  The purpose behind the defaults is so you don't have to spell out most of that stuff if you want to roll with most of it, and so you don't get surprised by folks doing things.

When setting up a game, you should also decide if you will have an app stage or not; the community has an initial app screening which ensures that incoming players have a decent grasp on writing, but you may decide to have an app to screen for characters specifically. If you decide to have apps for your game, you should set up a post for your game here on the OOC comm.

Application Template

The following App template may be of use. Feel free to modify it to fit your needs.

a) Role (Student [along with year- items such as prefects, Head Girl, Head Boy, or team positions will be decided in game if not already filled], professor [and what subject], other)

b) House (and reasoning as to why)

c) Wand [length, wood type, core material]

d) Roleplay sample, at least five sentences in length.
