Gryffindor Quidditch

Hey everyone, time sort of got away from me and so my plans to possibly do Quidditch try outs fell through. Instead I'd love to post a possible team and handwave that there's been practice going on and everyone can work with what they'd like. I'm going to put the characters and positions that I recall and if I've missed someone, comment and I'll change things. Thanks for your patience.

Also I was thinking it might be fun to do a post for one of the games and make them like party posts involving people in the stands, the general game going on and stuff before and after. I'd love suggestions and ideas.

Looks and sounds good to me. I think chaser will fit Kate's temperament better than Keeper like I had first thought as she can chase the action that way.

I also like the idea of games being both play and fan reactions. Now I need to watch video's of game play so try and get a better feel for the game as I've only seen the first few movies.

If you haven't read it already, I highly recommend the little book about Quidditch that Rowling put out. It lays out the rules and slang and gives a good sense of the feel of the game so that when you watch it played, there's more context.

Nope, Will's at the top of the list as Team Captain/Beater.

Do you happen to know if the players must be on their brooms at all times? I keep seeing Kate doing acrobatics on her's to kick the ball around and what not; sort of treating the broom as a mobile parallel bar.

Yes, that's the norm since most fouls come from messing around with brooms and I'm pretty sure that you have to only touch the ball with your hands or the bat. Though I could see Will encouraging her to come fairly close to playing with things but imagine that a broom is more like a horse, you have to keep in control of it so there's only so much play you have.

I'd have to doublecheck and I think most of that book or the information in it should be online. Do a google search for Quidditch rules and see what comes up.

Sounds good. I'll do some research tomorrow and I think I can still get the Batwoman acrobatics in with spins and such. = ]

Yes, there's a lot she can do but think of it along the lines of say trick riding, on the top of the broom.

He can thank Dinah for that as she recommended him to Will and somewhere there was Will flying with him and watching him fly. I imagine he and Will are very dangerous.

I foresee Raph being the cause of many a foul on the pitch. And possibly having the threat of suspension for Un-necessary roughness as constantly looming not far over head.

And because he's mad at Leo? Slytherins especially need to keep an eye out, on or off the pitch.

But yeah, I can see him and Will just being...oh man, it's going to be so bad...and yet awesome. Raph's the kind of guy who punches with love, so...prepare thyself, Will!

Hee, I think that's probably one reason that Will's glad to have him on the team as Will's the same way. And in the Wizarding World, not everyone understands that.

I could see Will as captain having many moments of going, hit hard, but not too hard and don't aim for the head just the shoulder.
